We Hear You

One of our readers, David, recently asked about reading his camera manual, and we’re glad he did. Lindsay Silverman, a Nikon senior technical manager, was interviewed by Nikon World editor, Barry Tanenbaum, on that very subject.

Trying to read your manual from cover to cover can be tough going. As Lindsay says, “it’s not a novel.” The article explains his approach to a manual, and, yes, even Lindsay has to read them from time to time. To read the entire story go to: How to (No Kidding) Read Your Manual. Another reader, Ken, had a question about tabletop photography. We’re preparing an article about that right now. Tabletop shooting is often used in commercial photography to produce all those product images for ads and magazine editorials.

You don’t have to be a professional photographer to benefit from a better understanding of how to shoot tabletop images. If you’ve ever wanted to sell anything online and needed a photo, you know what I mean. A good image can increase your changes of selling your item and getting a good price for it. We’ll let you know when the article is posted to the Learn & Explore section of NikonUSA.

Keep those comments coming―we want to know what you want to read!

Let Us Know What You Want to Read

Joe’s last post to this blog invited you to tell us what you’d like to read on the Learn & Explore pages of NikonUSA.com. I want to give that invitation a resounding endorsement.

For the last several years I’ve been focused on developing editorial and educational content for our websites. Having your input would be great! I want to know what you want to read about and what we can help you learn.

Do you want to know how to take great pictures of your collectibles to sell on the Internet? Are you planning a trip and need to know how to take pictures in a hot and humid climate? Are your attempts at capturing the perfect holiday card photo falling short?

We want you to enjoy the picture-taking experience, so let us know how we can help. Send us an email by way of the Site Feedback link at the bottom of every page on the site. Tell us what information would be most useful to you. We want to know what you want to read.

Additionally, Frances edits the product and marketing information, often working closely with Nikon's professional photographers, marketing and technical staff members to generate ideas for articles and videos.

Frances will be posting to this blog in an effort to generate conversation with you about educational topics you'd like to see in the future on our site. Welcome aboard, Frances!

Our Views

This blog and its contents are the personal observations and opinions of the authors. They do not represent the views of Nikon Inc.

Ground Rules for Your Shot

This blog is a conversation about the NikonUSA.com site redesign and how it can be made better for you. Your feedback on the site is something that we’re taking seriously. We’ll be taking comments you leave and using them as the foundation for future posts. This will help make our collective understanding of the site that much stronger.

The blog is not about Nikon products or the Nikon brand. It's also not about our competitors. So we’ll be reviewing comments to ensure they are within scope, and we’ll do this as quickly as possible. We’ll post the ones that stay on point and incinerate the ones that break the rules. Actually, our accountants say the price of gas for the incinerators is way too expensive right now, so we’ll have put those comments aside for now.

If you have questions about products, services, careers or other company related topics you should visit the Contact Us page of the site for the appropriate contact information.
