Comments on Comments

Some really good points so far so keep ‘em coming. There were a couple of comments through the blog and the general feedback form on the site about the lens landing page. Kurt posted a comment that he preferred the old lens page that listed all the lenses instead of the new one that is categorized. This is a really good insight and something we’re going to look at. Should be easy enough to provide the option to view by category or view an entire list. Good call Kurt.

We also had some comments that we didn’t publish since we want to keep this focused on the website itself. Those comments were regarding Capture NX, Firmware downloads and the like. For questions about products / services please visit the Nikon Knowledge Database

Please add or maintain links for older systems, like Nikonos underwater cameras. Many older systems are still in use around the world and info is needed even if it links to non-Nikon sites for repair or accesories.

Hi,

I'd like to be able to click on the camera's thumbnails on this page: http://nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Digital-SLR/index.page? - maybe go to the "Find out more page"?

Anyway, keep up the good work!

Are you guys going to consider doing what the newspapers and cable channels are already doing, namely, creating a space for the posting of photos?

A "Made with Nikon" photos page would be interesting. Allow for posting of the photo together with the shooting data.

Just a suggestion.

"A "Made with Nikon" photos page would be interesting."

I never went down that road, but I do have a site filled with 1970's B&W Nikon shots, I would enjoy seeing other Nikon sites.

Can't stand the new nikonusa.com home page - way too much flash and distracting elements. I'm not there for entertainment - I'm there for information that I need to find quickly and efficiently. Please present everything at once, instead of in pieces - I need to find what I'm looking for quickly. Instead I'm watching things flash before my eyes hardly able to comprehend what's going on. Things like this just make me feel like going elsewhere for information.

"Kurt posted a comment that he preferred the old lens page that listed all the lenses instead of the new one that is categorized."
I myself like the new lens listing that is categorized, so there isn't double listings.
I did however, like the black background
and the layout of the photography page.
I keep my link set to the "Find Your Nikon" page instead of the home page, the home page is in my favorites though.

I was reviewing the site looking for a way to give feedback to Nikon on a recent experience with the service department (which was mindblowingly fantastic). I wanted to send my praise for the way the service department not only kept me up to date on the status of repairs, but the fast easy way Nikon performs warranty and non-warranty repairs. I didn't really want to call the corporate office or wait on hold someplace - but I did want to make sure that someone in a management position got this positive feedback. Other companies have a web based "Comment / Feedback" system that routes comments to appropriate departments - maybe you can add that to Nikon's web page?

Ground Rules for Your Shot

This blog is a conversation about the NikonUSA.com site redesign and how it can be made better for you. Your feedback on the site is something that we’re taking seriously. We’ll be taking comments you leave and using them as the foundation for future posts. This will help make our collective understanding of the site that much stronger.

The blog is not about Nikon products or the Nikon brand. It's also not about our competitors. So we’ll be reviewing comments to ensure they are within scope, and we’ll do this as quickly as possible. We’ll post the ones that stay on point and incinerate the ones that break the rules. Actually, our accountants say the price of gas for the incinerators is way too expensive right now, so we’ll have put those comments aside for now.

If you have questions about products, services, careers or other company related topics you should visit the Contact Us page of the site for the appropriate contact information.
